Based on a true story:
It was the 7th grade dance. I had on my cool jacket, but pants and shirt. There he was, the boy I liked. My heart was pounding uncontrollably. His sister said that someone told her he had a girlfriend and he wouldn’t say anything about it. I freaked out and ran around asking people about it. Finally the answer was, that person was lying to his sister. My friend asked me if she could ask him out for me later on in the dance. I hesitated, of course, but finally said she could. Now that she was gone with that request, I was very jumpy. Every time I heard someone approaching I jumped up from the table in the back, but it wasn’t her. Finally she came, but her face was unreadable. She sadly told me that he said no. I nodded, taking it in very well. Well, then I saw him and all of his friends walking, and it looked like towards me. I freaked out and ran to the bathroom, hiding there. I did this repeatedly all night. Finally him and his sister left, and I felt like a loser for not just facing him. The worst part was that I had to sit horizontally from him the next day in language. That day officially sucked.
